The ImpressCMS project presents its first core release for the new year : ImpressCMS 2.0 Alpha 1. 

Between updates for the ImpressCMS 1.3 and ImpressCMS 1.2 branches, work has also been done on the next major release. The first results of that work, like removing the compatibility functionality with the 1.2 branch and some file relocations, are now available in this first alpha release.

This week, ImpressCMS is celebrating its 4th birthday. We have achieved quite a bit during the last years, and we can be proud of that.

We are publishing stable releases for both branches of ImpressCMS suitable for use on live sites - the 1.2 branch (LTS, for long term support) and the 1.3 branch.

Everyone is advised to update to one of these latest versions - they contain security updates that will protect your sites from malicious attacks.

Both releases also provide updates to some of the external libraries used (jQuery, TCPDF, PHPMailer, PHPOpenID, just to name a few). They both also have improvements to consistently handling passwords and filtering user-supplied data.
