ImpressCMS 2.0 Alpha 5 (07 April 2015)
The ImpressCMS 2.0 series is the next major release of the ImpressCMS project. After the intermediate 1.3 series, the compatibility with previous versions is no longer included, focusing on the IPF-based system architecture introduced with ImpressCMS 1.3.
Compatibility Layer Removed
The refactoring in the ImpressCMS 1.3 release has resulted in major improvements in memory use, stability and speed. ImpressCMS 2.0 continues to focus on these improvements, while shedding the compatibility layer with previous releases. This allows the team to focus on the new architecture.
Where appropriate, some files have been moved to other locations. Documentation, license and less-used optional files have been moved either to the docs or the extras folder.
New UI System
System module refactor to IPF
The system module is now refactored to use the IPF standards as much as possible, thanks to skenow. Some work still needs to be done, but this is a major step in the right direction.
We've gone through the translation files and started to eliminate duplication and had a good look at the file structure. This should result in less duplicates in the translations and a more logical organisation
This is a development release, DO NOT use on production servers.
What else do I need?
This release of ImpressCMS officially supports PHP 5.3.x. With this release, we are moving farther into only supporting stable versions of PHP5. The current stable release of PHP is 5.6.7, 5.5.23 and 5.4.39. The core should still run on PHP 5.3.9+, but that is an old release and is not recommended.
How do I upgrade or install?
