Ok HTML it is, the provider also allows a plain text alternative version to be sent with it.
I tried putting together a nice 2-column layout, but it doesn't render that well in email clients. So I'm dropping back to a simple single column design without images.
There's 2,000 people on my list so if it doesn't work well I guess I'll be hearing about it :)
