<p>The link in the first post isn't correct anymore. It's now updated to the correct one. There are many services like Woorank that offer insight in your site with actionable information to improve SEO, but they're Belgian so I thought I should mention some countrymen of mine.</p>

Email newsletter is a great way to bring people back to the site, get a big traffic spike for 2-3 days afterwards.
I only use voluntary newsletter sign ups with double opt in policy. Back end I use yourmailinglistprovider.com, its pretty cheap.
I also have a policy of give before take. If you want people to sign up to a newsletter it helps a lot if you give them something for free (eg. an electronic publication).

This varies for every organization. To begin with - what are the goals of the organization? Are they in business to sell products or services? What is the target audience? What makes your products or services unique? How will you delight your customers?
The first thing every organization needs to quickly gain control of is their brand - especially their name. If someone searches for your name, your website better come up as the #1 result. Apart from the on-page text, the domain name is critical (stating the obvious).
You also need to own every possible piece of social real estate for your name - Facebook page, Twitter account, Pinterest business account, Google+ business page, LinkedIn business page, Bing Local, Yahoo! Local, FourSquare, and others. This isn't only for ownership and control, it is also for gaining authority and reputation online.
Use valid HTML/CSS/JS, unique page titles, proper redirects and handling of 404 errors, reduce crawl errors and page loading. Visitors and search engines like this.
Special tags (attributes, really): rel=author, rel=me

Do you have local business sites, or do you have more global ones? Do you advertise on Facebook, Twitter, Google? Do you add special tags to your theme templates to improve your ranking?
"Have good content on your site" is true, but it's not what I'm looking for here. What are your smart ways to promote sites you have built?

The (meta) keywords are used or can be used in PDF documents as created by the TCPDF library.
Unfortunately TCPDF outputs the keywords twice...

A blog post by @drummond (Daniel from PageProgressive) had me looking around to see what else might be on the horizon for us.
The basic concept is that web browsers don't see a hyperlink to a profile any different that a hyperlink to a map of Helsinki. By using additional attributes in our HTML tags, we can begin to teach the web browsers (and search engine bots) the differences and relationships between elements on a page. In the past, indexing was done based on content, not on markup. This might change things - for better or worse.
Initially, it looks quite interesting and something that could be helpful, not just for people trying to share a common set of data, but also for search engines and people performing searches. But, I can also see it going the way of meta keywords - subject to misuse and the relevance being reduced to zero.
What do you think? It would have a major impact on how we further our development - HTMLPurifier, TinyMCE, templates, themes all have their fingers in the markup. And what about content added by the site managers?

I'd leave in the option - I prefer to specify the keywords rather than accept what gets auto-generated. It may not be a positive SEO factor, but it's definitely not a negative factor, if done well.

I don't fill the keywords box most of the time. I think tags have taken that role now.
The summary is still used by sites like digg and facebook (and google+ maybe) to put next to a posted link.

I don't fill in the keyword box with articles (Impression) or links (imLinks) anymore. Guess it's better to use one good relevant set of keywords throughout the whole website.

Title says it all, really. Do you still bother filling in the 'keywords' box on your articles? Can we just dispense with it, or is there still some arcane use for it of which I am unaware?

Mi host has added both to cPanel. I know about Fantastico were threads and Will (sure he knows he says) resume: Did I mention that Fantastico was the devil?
But, what about Softaculous or Installatron. Really, I have not used, just view them in my cPanel. Looks nice and there are a lot of CMS.
