i'm on linux, and i'm not stupid enough to click links willy nilly.. so HTML is perfectly fine for me :) always have preferred HTML mail.

Most of the newsletters I receive are html-based. It's ok for me.

Email newsletters: HTML vs plaintext quandry

I'm about to kick off an email newsletter service and I'm wondering how people feel about HTML email these days.

It used to be that many people hated HTML email, but it is a much nicer way to present content and especially links. Do you think things have changed?

HTML or plain text? That is the question :)

Re: We need a test site

Cool. This might give potential users a better idea of the capabilities. We might also plug the CMS Awards '09 on that site

Re: We need a test site

for the short part of what the Indistructable test site was.

there was a Cron job that reset the site with a known good SQL file.
linked to that Cron job was a Java script that counted the time down till the refresh.
a few pages in the X files where modified so that in the admins/config page the users could not completely turn off the site.

a list of good modules and good themes where installed, so that these users could install and remove them.

I had three test sites running.
X, XC, and XCL

Ill start tinkering on my server with ICMS and the demo setup, when i get it up and working with just a few themes and modules, ill open it up for testing. when its given the thumbs up you're more then welcome to upload it to ICMS to be open for public use.

Sure.
Let's set it up.
If you need something with a new host, let's talk to Marc-André about it.

Can you explain what you mean with indesctructible Xsite
Is it just X or a modified version of X?

Sorry if it seems like a lame question, not completely awake yet.

Marc hosted test sites for X that automatically reinstalled/refreshed every hour. That way new users could get a peak at the admin and everything else before they decided to jump in with both feet.

Very cool and useful feature that could be used here at impress.

Re: We need a test site

I'm surprised to see a few things,
and even more surprised that i done see a few things.

Is this test site for the mods and admins of ICMS, or is it for the masses?

If for the masses, the following questions apply.

The list of modules "working modules" is a good thing.
But they are not visible to a guest...

What about a list of "working free themes"

A timer to show how much time is left until the site restarts "Refreshes".

What about the ability to log in and a user or admin?

Knowing others don't play fair, some re writing of a few files will need to be done to insure they cant completely turn of the site.
( Ive got the old indestructible Xsite vers.2.0.16)along with a few others..

Re: Packt Publishing 2009 Open Source CMS Awards

I added my three votes. I didn't do the Nominate for CMS MVP.

We might do our own first. Then everyone could add it to packt.

Awesome...

@justanumber - the most promising is for projects that had their first release within two years of nomination open.

So we fall well within those guidelines.

did it too for three categories:
* Overall Open Source CMS Award
* Best Open Source PHP CMS
* Most Promising CMS

if you want to vote just once, it's recommended(at impresscms.de) to focus votes on Best Open Source PHP CMS.

Re: Packt Publishing 2009 Open Source CMS Awards

If I remember right Packt do not like to have the cms as "promising" for 2 years... but perhaps it is not a hard rule.

Have You ppl thought about which version the judges gonna get? 1.1.2, 1.2b(?) or even 1.2 final? According to last years rank the version may have importance. A guess 1.2 will rank ~10-15% higher.

In the categories

and
http://www.packtpub.com/nominate-overall-open-source-cms-award-winner ImpressCMS is spelled wrong. We'll take action on that.
Please vote for us anyway
