it tries to invite you to think about our future.
for this a new term was created, futability or futurability.
what is futurable, what is not?
it may one day have an aura like opensource has
Thank you for the share. I had a quick look but I'm not sure if I can understand what about that site really is. What should I do there? :|
hello all!
i wanted to tell that there is a new opensource project which invites to develop a term: futability/futurability.
what is futurable? how do we want to live together? fears, hopes, what do we have in common, where we need to talk?
futability.org is all about that. (the project will have some spotlight under futability.info and all the deep development happens at futability.org. also the project will be reachable under futurability.org and .info as well.)
so think about it anytime and if u want, share!
all the best!

any feedback/help/info is welcome by email as well: info@planetimpress.org
the site will be here: planetimpress.org
really encouraging.
well let's try design this from ground up with whats there allready.
also its internal structure, we have an explorer with some features of dolphin from kde here for example. i think of a Media directory structure that keeps all this generated and collected stuff. key in this is a "fetcher" that keeps the data until its sorted into either the Pictures, Documents, the Fetcher, Music, Software or Videos directory.
At the moment I try to design a small network with backup and mediathek/archive/knowledgebase server. I think such a system for all the media is needed, and the /position/block/group/user model of ImpressCMS to display content is just an awesome idea. It can be your complete desktop with some streaming and presentation layer, in this case ICMS with some maybe XMPP module. all interconnected and sharable, easily to get hands on, the development of documentation in a matter of git is the same as the writing and curating of code.
we as maintainer set it up and sort it out, TYGIA ^^, "the user gets it all", where you are one of it as well. Something bootable from a stick that can index and present some external/remote "any data storage".
I will look and see if i maybe find some distro builder.
the configured git is ready to host/serve repositories on a vhost basis, that would be a nice goal. i will look into the xoops server2go as well a bit.
There can be done a lot and i only start to get used to git and the Brackets editor.
Interesting idea!
If you plan to use virtual machine, I think it would be a good idea somehow to reuse vagrant configuration ->
https://github.com/ImpressCMS/impresscms-vagrant-template (once you have cloned you must rename config.virtualbox-example.json to config.json and maybe edit it). In that case we could use same environment both for production and development.
I have planned that drag and drop feature to do by myself. However I think I would need first to do other some stuff :/ But from other side if you'll do that could save some time for me :)
It's some Arduino wormengine that opens its needed connections and space and then serves and syncs for you.
This can be docker but it can be your own device as well.
Let's try to make this like a site replicator by only ftping files to any given environment.
Maybe even a virtual machine which is deployable in any shared hosting or vps environment itself by ftp where the user sets only an broadcasting ip from withing its own range.
Thoughts of the future.:
A thing that eats content and has an inerface to structure and add any given content, all the directory, all its' files, and presenting it.
The automatic representation of this is istelf structurable thanks to the system.
Basic space of 150mb may be required and it could be something that resides in opt and ads some layer of "computer".
It parses and eats stuff and lays a layer of information over it, any information it can get(maybe from its decentralised heads.)
On auto this may be wormcomputing, recreating basic infrastructure to be for itself and you.
Besides on that and while stored on your local harddisc(can be a vps), you can structure and edit it all, from text file editing to wysig and wym.
Preferably including drag and drop.
Many blocks(any content* blocks thanks due to areas (fed with modules features) showing up, so there is some admin work, preferably in groups, like it is with ICMS.
The Frontpage of ICMS needs get "replacable" by drag and drop, admin can do that with block positions as well as blocks aka the dynamic content as well. Block positions as well as the corresponding block content are dynamic.
Also the system need to understand itself slight different.
There are different mental models regarding the administration as well as the participation with a CMS. On the one hand, ICMS will structure and present content on auto, on the other hand, it makes it all curatable/managable on per block and per content and user basis. Thats ImpressCMS for me, a System which is useful in terms of infrastructure for an information age.
I started a new site dedicated to ImpressCMS 2.0, it's called planetimpress.org.
You will find tips, tricks, downloads and hacks there. The whole page is developed using brackets and Github -> planetimpress.org repository on github. You will be able to check out planetimpress.org as a cloneable resource with all the info and data you find when you visit http://www.planetimpress.org. It will be some kind of demo site as well and you will be able to use the site as a basis for your own projects with many modules and themes allready installed and working, plus a help system(help user which will see blocks with help for using the site and the modules).
I only just begun.
The site planetimpress.org is also meant for documentation of it's own development.
Check back and all the best!
Alright, it's submitted. I don't think it accepted my upload though...
Yes, you got the jist of it all, but I won't spoil a good story. I'll follow that link and do a page on it. Stay tuned!
Glad to have you along, mythus! Your feedback and enthusiasm is much appreciated.
We would very much like to hear the process that brought you to ImpressCMS. I've caught glimpses of it in posts somewhere - a hacked site, a search for a secure CMS and one that you can build a community around.
There is a news section for site case studies and highlights - a more in depth view of your site and its particular features and challenges.
We're undergoing some realignment of roles, content and marketing - 5 years has brought a lot of changes amongst our ranks!
Jump in wherever you feel comfortable - a fresh perspective on building a new site, selecting modules, finding a theme, customizing and migrating content are things us old-timers don't always think about any more.
There is still a lot for you to discover!
Greetings,
I am proud to announce the successful migration of my site, legendsofnorova.com from Joomla to ImpressCMS.
Feel free to check it out at http://legendsofnorova.com
I still have some small things to do, but the site it up, running, and fully functional! Thanks to everyone here who's helped me along!
Congratulations on the lovely baby - and very nice work with the code as well :)
The birthlist - we call it a registry here in the states - could be a good start on a new module.
I think it just needs add the ability for users to associate products with their account.
So once someone says they are going to buy it it becomes unavailable to other users that way you don't end up with 10 car seats. :)
So if we add a field that lets the user commit to buying that item - then simply gray out items that are spoken for. and show the users name who has committed to the item.
It is an edge case use - but still a cool module for sure.
The jcart integration - also gives us the chance to make a nice little shop module if we wanted as well - really just need to re-add the paypal integration and get those config options in the preferences.
Really a nice job on the site.. Best wishes and a good luck for you and your family..
Congratulations!!!!
Nice times for you and....sleep when you can ;)
Definitely a big congrats to you and your family again. Your daughter is fortunate to have such loving parents. :)
Congratulations. I wish you all the best for your family.
The integration of this small shop module rocks! beautiful clean design.
