Bender: as he's even removed the last touch of xoops from that site - I have my doubts also.

Yep, have gotten really familiar with the GPL ever since the whole "themes are GPL" which they are not.

Modules are GPL, which means they can be redistributed, changed, whatever.

Themes are not. There is a huge letter from the GPL board or commission or whatever they call themselves about this.

Xtrato finally had enough and contacted them about it, and they wrote back a very detailed response about designs not being under GPL, but that modules/plugins/etc were. They then added a very vague sentence to the GPL about designs not being in it.

The short end of the story is that legally you could redistribute his module, but etiquette may suggest that you do not.

Let me get this straight. Modules that required the cms to run and that have been released are public domain?

Uhmm public domain as in the term for software is a different software i think. But anyway yes the answer is you can do nothing to stop a module from being distributed in these cases for example when released under gpl.

However there is nothing wrong with the author asking for removal from your site and you doing it out of respect. :)

Gathering from their current portfolio i donĀ“t think he would be interested ( http://panthersoftware.com ). Seems they have no cms services for any system at the moment.

I think when Smartshop is released it will be the best solution. The custom fields will allow you to really expand the module as you need it.

It is a shame that Xassette is no longer available, as this would have been a fine product to use for this....

(I wonder if anyone could continue work on this module???)

I searched hi and low for McNaz's modules without finding them. He had asked for them to be removed from dev.xoops and they were out of respect for him.

I wonder if he would entertain coming back to impress. He was very mad over on xoops but why I don't know. Maybe he would consider joining impress?

Re: Selling downloads using ImpressCMS

Yes - for a commercial project, I would certainly seriously consider the IZ module.

Re: Selling downloads using ImpressCMS

Really, all new modules by RedMexico do not run on ICMS or Xoops.
Myshop by InstantZero perhaps?

Topic

Re: Selling downloads using ImpressCMS

RedMexico is working on their own Xoops fork, and their position on Xoops and Impress is yet unclear. I don't think using their modules is a good idea at this moment.

Thinking about it - I am very very sure there's a RedMexico module which can support something like this.....?

Perhaps SmartShop has some possibility for use on this?

Selling downloads using ImpressCMS

Hi everyone.

I've been proposed a site for a music band. Of course, the hot subject is online music selling. I've done some research, and a good approach for the band's site would be:

ImpressCMS + Mastop Publish + selling files solutions

There's another Drupal-based solution out there, but the Impress one looks promising, as it's simple and Smarty is much easier than PHPTemplate.

I'm open to suggestions.

Thank you.

It takes a little js (screen.width and screen.height) to determine screen width/height and then you can switch stylesheets based on your results.
