D3Templates

Several people have requested these, so here they are..

These are the last copy of the D3Templates from our work on it on dev4, I am not sure of who all had a hand in getting these templates where they are, so a global thanks to everyone who helped.

Sorry it isn't a complete set, please send all complaints about that to Mik.

There have been some css changes, but it should be a good starting point for anyone interested in using the module.

Re: D3Templates

Thank you MrTheme. This is the right direction.
the name of the files contain D3Templates prefix boards_
Do I need to rename?
Write steps replacement template. Not everyone understands how to install.

Re: D3Templates

I would do it that way, then you could just upload the renamed templates to your xoops_trust_path/modules/d3forum/templates folder.

Update the module, and you should be good to go.

Re: D3Templates

I just uploaded these and updated the forum on a test site, and I have to say that they make the module usable. That's good!

I can only imagine how much work this was, and I'm sure that I speak for many when I say that it is very much appreciated. Thanks!

Jere

Re: D3Templates

Agreed!!

The templates just made the balance shift to d3forum for my new site.

I had fooled around with the SMF bridge since I was very interested in using a mature forum with continuing development. CBB just not being touched for over a year.

Thanks a bunch.

Re: D3Templates

The templates look nice, but I have a question: I don't see any way to search on the module home page. Is this intentional?

Re: D3Templates

nope, not intentional. Dev4 had a search box in a block, so I guess it never crossed my mind

implementing the search script is cake though.

Re: D3Templates

Templates look pleased, but we are not definitive. We need to add them to existing svn place.

Also we must not throw the idea of creating SMF bridge within 1.1.

I don't think the idea has been thrown out - but it's something that could be worked on separately.

Re: D3Templates

There already was an smf bridge for xoops, I am sure that with a little work it could be fine tuned for 1.1

Re: D3Templates

Agreed ... I think it's even mentioned on the SMF site.

Re: D3Templates

The SMF bridge coded by Orstio is a beauty. I've tested it and it works fine. Except for no blocks.

The only inconvenience with the state of the cms now is that you end up with 2 profile areas and 2 PM systems. Until those are modular in the CMS it will get troublesome to admin and explain to users what is what.

Re: D3Templates

again though, there is a way to replace the default xoops profile system with the smf profile system. That way users would only see the one.

Re: D3Templates

As the bridge is currently under the smf license - I don't think it can be included on svn to develop further directly.

Of course, I agree. I strive to keep my sites as hack free as possible however. Keeping the upgrade process as easy and painless as possible. I've racked my brain on upgrading a site where the multilanguage(x-language) didn't work anymore, just to remember later the little line that I added to the common.php file. Just a tad of frustration for one line.

If I have to hack I will, but if I can get away from it, all the better. Everything has moved in the right directions system wise for me in the last 4 years, that I'm content adapting myself to the core and not making the core adapt to me. :bravo:

Re: D3Templates

Sensible to be cautious on core hacks.. and I hope that we can accommodate user requirements, rather than they having to change the core.
