Email newsletters: HTML vs plaintext quandryI'm about to kick off an email newsletter service and I'm wondering how people feel about HTML email these days.
It used to be that many people hated HTML email, but it is a much nicer way to present content and especially links. Do you think things have changed? HTML or plain text? That is the question :) |

Re: Email newsletters: HTML vs plaintext quandryAccording to what I've read for best delivery to the most inboxes, email newsletters are best sent as both HTML and text. I kind of like to have both - the text version can't cloak links as easily.

I tried putting together a nice 2-column layout, but it doesn't render that well in email clients. So I'm dropping back to a simple single column design without images. There's 2,000 people on my list so if it doesn't work well I guess I'll be hearing about it :) |

Re: Email newsletters: HTML vs plaintext quandryyou might check out some HTML mail styling guides. Not all mail clients (Outlook 2003/webmail) has the same support for HTML tags.
