Custom @ImpressCMS Twitter Design Needed

Hey gang!

Currently, the ImpressCMS Twitter profile is using one of the lame default twitter profile designs and doesn't even remotely reflect our community and the outstanding pool of talent it contains. In the interest of helping the project stand out and attract more users, we'd like to have a custom background and color scheme developed for the project's twitter profile.

To thank the designer, as is the case with nearly all custom twitter designs, the designer is welcome to discretely include the following caption in the design to help gain some exposure for their work....

"Twitter Theme By: http://yourdomain.com/"

This can be placed horizontally or vertically, as long as it's discrete enough to not overpower the ImpressCMS branding.

The main requirements are thus:

* The design and color scheme MUST compliment current ImpressCMS branding
* It should incorporate visual queues that instantly help users understand *WHAT* ImpressCMS is
* It should look highly professional and modern
* It MUST be reasonably lightweight (background file size)

Any takers? It's free advertising!

Re: Custom @ImpressCMS Twitter Design Needed

Great idea

But as a suggestion - there's the excellent presentation material we put together for the CMSX show - the design of that would match very well with the current site design ...

But perhaps a new one ready to go with the site redesign could be worked on as well

The PDF can be found on the CMSX page here: http://www.impresscms.org/content.php?page=ImpressCMS_at_CMSX

Re: Custom @ImpressCMS Twitter Design Needed

Good suggestion, but that design doesn't lend itself well to twitter. Keep in mind there are static elements on Twitter you have to work around. A derivative of that design perhaps, but even then you have to accommodate for the wide variety of resolutions (netbooks?)

This is free promotion on Twitter, one of the most visited sites in the world now. Our twitter page is targeted directly at ImpressCMS users who will need a nice design. This will get the designer much exposure.

Don't be shy gang... Throw some more ideas out there! :D

Here's an article with some dimensions for Twitter page elements - http://www.sitepoint.com/blogs/2009/04/29/how-to-create-your-own-twitter-background/

The background on my Twitter page was created with TwitBacks.

Instead of having the background applied automatically by TwitBack I saved the background picture first to my hard drive, opened it with Photoshop and removed the TwitBack logo before I added it manually to my Twitter page.

The picture has a dimension of 1920x1707, instead of 1024x768 from the article.

Sorry, linked to the wrong image in my previous post.
Here's the correct link to the Twitter background (dimension: 1920x1707px).

Re: Custom @ImpressCMS Twitter Design Needed

Much better! Many thanks. A little tweak of the colors and that will definitely do.

What colours do you mean?

On my laptop (1280x800) I can't see the url under the icms-logo. Guess I've to shift the logo+url a little up.

Re: Custom @ImpressCMS Twitter Design Needed

Agreed on logo and perhaps less decoration on the URL and make it very clear (no drop shadow)? Also, how about using a radial gradient fading to white in the same color scheme, or contrasting as the current network site's gradient, then, pulling the primary colors from the community site and applying them as the custom styles to the main twitter components?

Thoughts?

Well... we've got a lot to learn. This is how a Twitter custom page SHOULD look like: http://twitter.com/exponentcms/

Re: Custom @ImpressCMS Twitter Design Needed

I agree this needs some more work, but at least we've departed from the generic twitter page design.

Re: Custom @ImpressCMS Twitter Design Needed

Here are some more backgrounds for Twitter:

http://members.chello.nl/rengelsman/icmstwit02.jpg

http://members.chello.nl/rengelsman/icmstwit03.jpg

http://members.chello.nl/rengelsman/icmstwit04.jpg

http://members.chello.nl/rengelsman/icmstwit05.jpg

I think the filesize of icmstwit03.jpg is too big, it will slow down the rendering of the Twitter page.

Re: Custom @ImpressCMS Twitter Design Needed

I Like:
http://members.chello.nl/rengelsman/icmstwit05.jpg

and I also like the
http://members.chello.nl/rengelsman/icmstwit03.jpg
but it's really "busy" if you know what I mean.

Are we allowed to change the columns etc etc on twitter?
Left column, big block to the right with content or something :?
