Site slow

There's something on community.impresscms.org that is making pages load very slowly, and causing lags when using the Javascript menus. Sometimes the browser seems to lock up completely.

I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.11 on MEPIS 7.0.

Re: Site slow

The DNS server has changed recently - perhaps it's something to do with this?

Re: Site slow

I've added this domain to my hosts file, so that I don't go through your DNS server. It doesn't seem to make any difference.

Re: Site slow

i sometimes get that too, and i've also added to my hosts file.

it isn't all the time though, sometimes it's really fast but other times is dauntingly slow.

can we check the server logs etc? i dunno, but on some occasions i suspect someone is using an offline browser to download the whole site etc. it may not be the case, but there's a number of possibilities why a site can suddenly slow down. it's just we have to narrow it down to the cause before we can work on it.

Re: Site slow

Isn't it the times that it needs to re-fill the cache, that the site gets slow? Or at the times that it needs to poll to the oh-loh site.

Re: Site slow

Guys, whenever you encounter any performance issue, can you directly contact me via IM so I can have a look at the server in real time.

I have not been experiencing any of this, so when you do, please tell me right away so I can inquire.

Thanks!

Re: Site slow

It's not only you. There are days where I can't even reach it at all.
Today there's one of those days. Since a few minutes it seems to work a little better again.

However, the overall performance of icms.org is quite bad since I know it. It's the slowest site I'm browsing.

Re: Site slow

We've had some problems today which turned out to be database related. I did clear the cache however, so in the beginning the site could be slower than usual.

As Marcan said: best contact him the moment you experience slowness.
