User_Ranks

User Ranks are a simple way of indicating the level of activity of a user on the site, based on number of 'post's made by that user on the site.

Current uses

The user rank is shown by some modules (such as iForum), but no specific permissions or functionalities are linked to that metric, as of yet.

Potential improvements:

User rank could be improved by taking into account a temporal dimension as well. It's quite nice that you have made 10.000 posts, but if those posts were made 5 years ago that activity is no longer relevant at present.

Another improvement would be to plugin the user rank in the routine that determines the permissions for the user. That way, a certain level of activity could give access to extra functionality, as a way to reward active members.
